We are Missionaries for a local Minnesota community. We have a passion for the lost and desire to introduce as many as possible to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We further want to help other people to become missionaries of their local area. To share the information, we are using to accomplish this goal.
1. We will arrange events/classes/seminars
Bring in speakers and teachers to the Church on Saturday or other days of the week. Many Churches are empty some of the time. We will bring in speakers and teacher to talk on popular subjects like Revelations. prophecy, timelines, Gifts of the Holy Spirit, Angels, question and answer seminar with panel of scholars. We can also open the Church for various subjects like raising kids, marriage seminar, and many more. Last halt of the day or evening sessions without a meal. Some events we like to have music and snacks
2. We are planning to produce a DVD with a revival message.
I have recently completed the Billy Graham Evangelistic online course (took about 6 months with a wealth of information). I would like to distribute this DVD free to as many people as possible. I would like to compose it based largely on the course, and although I have taught classes and given several Gideon presentations, I do not feel that I am gifted to be a preacher. So, I will be hoping to find someone who has a passion for the lost and will give the message. I am thinking of a title like: “Developing a relationship with God and His children”.
3. Arrange for a supper, once a week if possible, for people in the Church area, at our homes.
Betty and I would begin by inviting our neighbors. Just for a supper and to get to know each other. We would ask each person to tell a little of themselves and I as host would do the same and let them know I am a Christian with our Church, and happy to talk to any of them should they want to. I would encourage other people of the Church to do the same; it may be difficult for others, but we would offer our house. We have recently remodeled our kitchen with this out-reach in mind. I have discussed with one of your members who would like to invite her neighbors to our home and would help. Like myself, many folks do not know many of their neighbors, so this would be good to get to know them, and gently let them know of our Church and welcome them to attend.
4. Develop a program where we can help each other.
Say I need my grass cut and other stuff to do, I would invite another person or two to help, then when they need help, I would go over to help them.
Not necessarily saving time, but we can do it together in fellowship. As fall approaches, the share time with canning all sorts of produce; to make the event fun with the fellowship of each other. Maybe good for kids too, to do some yard work for some extra money. I realize some people are reluctant to ask for help, so I could be that go between with emails and texting. I would ask our people to let others know that they receive help with people from the Motley Free Methodist Church.
5.Ask if you can pray for others you meet, anywhere.
Probably not too many will do this very often, however, some would, and I will continue to do so. I have prayed for people I have just met; many have had specific things to pray for, others just would like a prayer in general, and have thanked me for it. I have not had anyone give me a hard time of asking them if I could pray for them. Usually I say I would pray for them later that day.
6. Send a note of appreciation to businesses near us. Teachers, firemen, responders and many others in the community;
Thank them for being a part of growing our community, letting them know we are Christians. Maybe even a gift if appropriate, it would be fun to have a drawing ever so often to give away a prize as a token of our appreciation. (I think having me encouraging this would make it happen, I know, many have good intentions, but they need help to do so)
7. Leave money at a café, pay for a meal for someone.
Let them know that Christians are doing so. I do think we need to let the world know that Christians are caring and loving people. Smile and leave a nice tip too.
8. Finding helpers:
I was the Mission Leader at Lincoln. We had a committee of 7 people. We had 15 missionaries we gave some support (10% of the budget). I asked some people of the Church to be a partner for several of the missionaries. I asked them to (1) Pray for the missionary. (2) Send them a note at least once a year. (3) Arrange for the missionary to come to the Church to give a presentation or send a video. I did not ask them to attend any meetings, I did send them out an agenda so they could comment on it as they desired. This worked out very well and got more people involved in the Church who had not done much before. I think most people want to do something for the Church, so it was good to offer them something.
Good works does not save us; Jesus saves us for good works.
8. We have made brochures of:
The truth of Jesus, What Heaven and you would be like, Self-analysis of your gift from the Holy Spirit, and a book-mark with a Christian message. Next plan is to make a prayer “tent” folks can put on their table to remind us to pray. See below for brochures.
Heaven and You: what will be in Heaven and what you will be like. The Truth of Jesus. We have members that have many brochures and tracts and material that can answer many questions you may have, and inspiring as well, again there would be no charge.
Isaiah 6:8 8Then I heard the voice of the LORD saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
It has taken many years to grow, learn and develop our relationship with God and we have met many people in the ministry that will also guide us to what we believe God has taught us to share.
In His Love,
Dan and Betty Posner
